Small rituals and habits play an important role in our primary school day.
A recurring routine provides order and security. A lesson plan that is geared towards the pupils also takes care of the children's well-being.
Our popular ritual is the emotional calendar. The idea comes from the famous book: The Colour Monster by Anna Llenas. Each colour is assigned a feeling:
Pink: loved
Giallo (yellow): happy
Verde (green): relaxed
Blu (blue): sad
Rosso (red): angry
Grigio (grey): anxious
Every day the teacher asks how the children are feeling. The pupils answer in Italian and they feel accepted and understood.
Finally, the class guesses how the teacher herself feels.
